Part of the ongoing Skūra series (Lithuanian for “skin” or “hide”), Skūra II continues an investigation into a corporeality detached from identity or content. The work is a skin without a body — an incarnation that never occurred. Suspended between emergence and dissolution, it gestures toward a state of becoming: flayed yet unborn, raw yet anonymous.

As a being in transition, Skūra II invites viewers to reflect on ingrained gender constructs. It stages an encounter between materials often read through a gendered lens: soft, mutable textiles and dense, unyielding ceramic. Rather than oppositional, their relationship unfolds in a quiet negotiation — a collaboration that resists binaries. In this charged stillness, form remains unresolved, existing in a liminal state that holds potential and loss in equal measure.
